Roll Call & Call to Order EII Planning Team members were requested to preview the following documents in preparation for the March 13 Planning Team meeting:

Old Business Report on New Virtual Forum Schedule: Amy and Avagene jointly reported on the new schedule which began March 1; online opportunities are available 3 days each week (Brown Bag session on Tuesday, 1:00 PM Eastern; moderated formal sessions on Wednesdays at 12:00 Noon Eastern; and Round Table discussions on Thursday evenings at 8:00 PM Eastern with a guest leading an informal, unmoderated chat on the topic of the week). The new schedule is working well and will continue to be heavily promoted to encourage greater participation from emergency professionals. Other: The discussion included Amy's demonstration in the Virtual Classroom on March 11 when she taught online participants how to use ArcExplorer. The flow of Amy's instruction and demonstration with URLs for software and site-related instructions were excellent. The edited transcript is an outline for downloading, installing and using the software and is a very useful tool available in the Virtual Forum Archives. |

New Business Overview of Blueprint/Regional EM Network: Amy briefed meeting participants on her draft for a regional emergency management network; the draft was provided to all team members prior to the meeting. The Planning Team was complimentary of the draft and suggested the next step be an expansion of the document to specify additional requirements and information needed to implement each phase or tier of the network proposed. After several questions and comments on the draft, the Planning Team was asked to submit written comments to Amy and Avagene by Friday, March 20. These comments will be used by Amy to develop the second draft. Summary of Survey Results - Areas of Consensus: The final Summary of Findings or Results of the recent EIIP Development Survey was provided to team members as requested. The information and compiled raw data is available on the EIIP Virtual Forum web site. Last month's Planning Team meeting resulted in a decision that areas of strong consensus would be used in the Planning Team's deliberations for Partnership and Virtual Forum guidance and direction. The Summary of Findings/Results will also be useful in reporting and talking with Partner organizations and those we wish to involve in the Partnership. For example, the Summary and Survey instrument is part of the Mid-Year EIIP Project Report to the IAEM (formerly NCCEM) Board of Directors on March 14, 1998. Long-Range Plan: Planning Team meeting participants felt that the draft under consideration, the survey results, growth and expansion of Virtual Forum schedule, and additional assistance from interns are all consistent with the '98 Strategic Plan; we are on target with our implementation dates. Expansion of the network draft and decisions related to the second and future drafts as well as other ongoing activities can be used as the framework for the development of a 3-year plan. |
