 Spring Break Student Day – We recognize students in emergency management with an annual Spring Break celebration. Our March 2000 session included a discussion of "How prepared is your college?" Our March 99 session gave students an opportunity to learn about potential careers in government, the business sector, and in research with a panel of experts. |

IDNDR Concluding Phase – Philippe Boulle, Director of the UN IDNDR Secretariat addressed Disaster Reduction As a Central Element of Government Policy in observation of the concluding phase of the International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction, during June 99. |

Exemplary Practices in Emergency Management – A special guest panel marked the occasion of the publication of the Volume III of FEMA's Partnerships in Preparedness: A Compendium of Exemplary Practices in Emergency Management, during November 98. |

World Disaster Reduction Day – We celebrated World Disaster Reduction Day on October 14th, 1998 with Helena Molin Valdes, Head, Latin America Unit of the IDNDR (International Decade of Natural Disaster Reduction) Secretariat and observed the occasion on October 13th, 1999 with a discussion. On October 11th, 2000 we observed the occasion with Nicole Appel, newly appointed Awareness and Promotion Officer for ISDR, the successor to IDNDR. |

Conference Roundup – A special chat session, September 98, was devoted to an overview of conferences planned during the coming year, both in cyberspace and the real world. |

LIVE! from Remote Locations – We attempt to bring you the latest developments from disaster related conferences. Our April 98 Live! from the SALEMDUG conference was our initial attempt. Our June 98 Live! from the Community and Family Preparedness conference experienced technical difficulty, but we had a good chat on ideas from around the country anyway. During July 98, a special Round Table session was live from the Hazards Research and Application Workshop in Boulder, Colorado and the FEMA co-sponsored Technology Partnerships for Emergency Management Workshop and Exhibition at Argonne National Laboratory. |

EIIP Birthday Parties – During August '99 we celebrated the second anniversary of the Virtual Forum with an online birthday party. This repeated the successful event during August '98, when we celebrated our first birthday. |
